What counts as an emergency
A door stuck open is the real one. The house is standing open, and in Lubbock that is a security problem before it is a door problem. A door stuck shut with a car inside is urgent. A door that is closed, staying closed and merely noisy is not — that one can wait for a normal appointment and cost you less.
Door stuck open
Call first. While you wait: if the opener still has power, try the wall button rather than the remote, because a flat remote battery is a surprisingly common cause of what looks like a dead opener.
If the door will not move at all, do not force it. A door that is stuck open with a broken spring is being held by the opener alone, and that is not what the opener is for. Keep people and vehicles from under it.
Car trapped inside
Every opener has a manual release — the red cord hanging from the trolley on the rail. Pull it and the door disconnects from the opener.
Only lift the door by hand if the spring is intact. Look at the bar above the opening first. If you can see a gap in the coil, the spring has gone and the door weighs 150 to 400 pounds with nothing carrying it. Leave it down and wait. See garage door won’t open.

Is a broken spring dangerous to leave overnight?
A door that is down and staying down is not dangerous, provided nobody tries to lift it and the opener is not used. A door stuck open is a different matter, because the house is open.
Can I just disconnect the opener and use it manually until you arrive?
Only if the spring is intact. The manual release disconnects the door from the opener; it does not make the door lighter. With a failed spring you would be lifting the full weight of the door by hand.
