Our Promise

Warranty & Guarantees

What is covered, what is not, what we guarantee, and how to make a claim. In plain terms.

The short version

Parts and labour on the work we do are covered. The length of that cover depends on the job and the parts fitted, so call and ask what applies to your repair — we will tell you before the work starts. If something we fitted fails within that period, we come back and put it right at no charge.

Manufacturer warranties on doors and openers run separately from ours. We register those for you where the manufacturer requires it.

What does the warranty cover?

  • Springs, cables, rollers, hinges and bearings we supplied and fitted
  • Opener components we replaced
  • The labour on any of the above
  • Door balance and travel settings from the visit

What is not covered?

  • Storm, hail and impact damage after the visit, which is an insurance matter. See hail claims.
  • Damage from operating a door we advised you not to operate
  • Wear on parts we did not supply
  • Adjustments made by somebody else after we left
  • Ordinary maintenance such as lubrication and clearing grit from the tracks

On that last one

Track cleaning and lubrication are maintenance rather than repair, and in this climate they matter more than most places. We will show you how to do it rather than charge you to come back for it. Method on dust and tracks.

Our guarantees

The warranty covers the parts and the labour. These are the things we promise about how the job is done in the first place, and they apply whether the repair is a ten-minute roller swap or a full opener replacement.

  • The price is agreed before the work starts. Where the fault is clear on the phone we will quote it there. Where it is not, you get the number in the driveway before a spanner comes out, and it does not move afterwards unless we find something and you say go ahead.
  • We will tell you when it is a cheap fix. A door that reverses is usually a dirty photo-eye lens, not an opener. A noisy door is usually rollers. Saying so costs us a bigger invoice and earns the next call, and we would rather have the next call.
  • No pressure to replace a door that can be repaired. Lubbock has a great many twenty-year-old doors with sound panels and tired hardware. Sound panels get repaired.
  • Same-day on most repairs. Springs, cables, rollers and openers are on the truck. If we genuinely cannot get to you the same day we say so when you call rather than at six in the evening.
  • The whole door gets checked, not just the broken part. Balance, travel limits, force settings, photo-eye alignment and the auto-reverse test before we leave. A door that passes those is a door that is safe to have over a car and a child.
  • We clean up. Old springs, cable ends, packaging and swarf leave with us. You should not be finding hardware on the drive a week later.
  • If our work fails, we come back free. No second call-out fee to put right something that was ours in the first place.

How do I make a warranty claim?

There is no form and no claims department. It is a phone call.

  1. Stop using the door if it is unsafe. A door with a snapped spring or a frayed cable should be left alone, not wrestled. Park outside if the car is already out.
  2. Call us and say it is a warranty call. Give us the address and roughly when we were out. That is enough for us to find the job.
  3. Tell us what it is doing now. Grinding, stopping halfway, reversing, not responding — the symptom tells us which part to bring, so the return visit is one trip rather than two.
  4. We come out and look. If it is our part or our labour, we put it right at no charge. If it turns out to be a separate fault — a different component, or storm damage since — we tell you plainly and quote that before we touch it.

How long do I have?

That depends on the job and the parts fitted, which is why we tell you the term before the work starts rather than printing one number here that would be wrong for half of you. Call and ask what applies to your repair — we will look up the job and tell you.

Questions we get asked

Do I need to register anything?

For our workmanship, no. Keep the invoice. For manufacturer warranties on new doors and openers we handle registration where it is required.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?

Call and ask. Whether it transfers depends on the work that was done, so we will confirm it for your specific repair.

What if the same fault comes back?

Call us. If it is the work we did, we come back and fix it. If it turns out to be a different fault we will tell you that honestly and quote it separately.

Do you guarantee parts I supplied?

We guarantee our labour, but not parts we did not source. Sizing on springs in particular is critical and we cannot stand behind a component we did not select.

What voids the warranty?

Somebody else adjusting the work after we leave, operating a door we advised you not to operate, or storm and impact damage after the visit — the last of those is an insurance matter rather than a workmanship one. Normal use, including heavy use on a rental, does not void anything.

Do I need the original invoice to claim?

It makes it quick, so keep it. If you have lost it we can usually find the job from the address and the approximate date. What matters is that the work was ours and the part is one we supplied.

Does the warranty cover call-out as well as parts?

If the fault is with work we did, yes — there is no service call fee to come back and put our own work right. If we get there and it turns out to be a separate fault, we will tell you that plainly and quote it before doing anything.
