Why we quote the pair
On a two-spring door both springs were fitted the same day, have run the same number of cycles, and have been through the same Lubbock summers. When one fails the other is typically close behind.
Replacing one means a second service call within months, and the labour is the larger part of the cost either way. We will fit a single spring if you want it, but we will tell you what we think first.
On very low quotes
A quote well below the local median usually means either a lighter spring than your door needs, or a low headline price with the real cost added once someone is in your garage. Ask what cycle rating is included and whether the price covers one spring or two. Those two questions separate most quotes.
Questions we get asked
Why is labour most of the cost?
The springs themselves are not expensive. What you are paying for is someone who can safely release and re-tension several hundred pounds of stored energy, and correctly size the replacement.
Can I supply my own springs?
We would rather not. Sizing depends on door weight, height and drum type, and a mis-sized spring damages the door and the opener.
How long does it take?
An hour to ninety minutes for a standard residential door.
Is a higher cycle rating worth it in Lubbock?
